Abstract

Indonesia is a country located between the confluence of three plates, also located on the Pacific Ring
of Fire route. With these conditions, Indonesia is categorized into countries with disaster potential.
Given this insecurity, the Indonesian people are required to understand the procedures when facing
disasters. Children's lack of knowledge of things to do in the event of a disaster causes a high
number of children's casualties. In addition to natural disasters that are purely caused by nature, there
are also frequent disasters caused by human behavior such as floods caused by piles of garbage that
are thrown away carelessly. In fact, instead of causing disasters, these wastes can be used as useful
items. Therefore, we visited the SD/MI school in Blimbingrejo Village to teach about disaster
mitigation, what things to do when a disaster occurs. In addition, we teach children to be creative
using materials that are no longer used to become other items that will have use value. From these
activities, children can better understand the things they must pay attention to when a disaster occurs
and foster children's creativity in reducing disaster-causing waste.
